Golden Age Karate

Inducted into the USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame at 10 years old, Jeff Wall is a teenage karate pro. But that’s not even his greatest achievement. Jeff wanted to pass along his passion for the dojo to a community he felt needed it most — senior citizens.

What is their why?

“We believe in the spirit of being helpful. And we believe that it’s difficult to help someone else in a meaningful way. You have to be tuned in to who they are and what their needs are. We wanted to highlight what true helpfulness looks like.”

Jeff learned through his dojo that the most important value is to respect your elders; how do you respect the elders in your life? Beyond the older adult community, serving others can also be a great way to connect with your community. What are some ways you can connect with and serve those in need?

Watching Jeffrey with the seniors brought me to tears. It reminded me of how it was when I was growing up- UTMOST RESPECT FOR SENIORS! It show me that there is still great people in the younger generation that will uplift society and our communities. Fantastic to see!!!

I commend Jeffrey’s care and concern for the elder population as well his parents who are outstanding role models for him. I enjoyed the filmmakers approach of using text to emphasize the story. I concur with Deatria – it is uplifting to see young people getting involved in their community.

I loved this video. I just saw Jeffrey on The Jennifer Hudson Show and decided to look him up. I’m glad I came across this video because it was helpful to see the benefits of his work. I especially liked hearing that a senior was able to reduce her diabetes medication because she is being more active. Oh, and the senior with dementia who made sure she didn’t miss her karate lessons was inspiring. I don’t write grants anymore, but I’d love to write a grant for any of his programs. I’m inspired.
